With a shortage of 7.2 million healthcare workers worldwide and skewed resource allocation to higher-level care, there is a growing recognition of the inequities in access to healthcare by the world’s most vulnerable populations. Increasing global focus on Universal Health Coverage necessitates the reallocation of resources to primary care and the strengthening of community health systems.
